For the Love of Baseball

Why would a kid endure the dust,

the heat,

giving up birthday parties and outings with friends

in exchange for hours and hours and hours of practice,

the sting of defeat in a championship game,

the personal agony of a strike out,

taking a nasty one to the eye

WHY?

I'll tell you why.

Because once in a while a moment comes along that is so thrilling, so joyful, so sweet that you can actually taste it.

A moment like smashing the ball for a triple with the game winning RBI.

To Do List

Back in January I made a list of things to do before school gets out for the summer:

Organize the storage room.

Change out the curtains and accessories in the family room.

Get new bedding and towels and rugs for our room.

Get new carpet and mattresses for the twins' rooms.

Clean all the inside windows and the blinds.

Make and freeze a least a dozen meals.

Scrapbook approximately six years worth of pictures.

Lose 10 lbs.

....Ummm, looks like I'm going to be busy the next three days.
